ALLEVIATE STRAPS + WHY IT MATTERS
The most important feature for sports bra comfort
Before Lume Six, much of our pain and discomfort from sports bras was in our neck and shoulders. We could feel tension building over time while wearing a sports bra, centered around the straps. We realized that the straps of most sports bras would bunch up, causing a pressure point over the shoulder. This became a key focus as we designed and developed our sports bras.
We focused on designing a strap that would consistently lay flat through movement and activity. Having straps that lay flat with a slight bit of cushion helps to distribute weight evenly over the shoulder, alleviating pressure and the source of discomfort. Our straps are made with bonded seams for smooth next-to-skin comfort and a thin layer of padding to create structure that keeps the straps flat and evenly distribute the load. Think of a duffel bag strap…when the movable pad is in place over your shoulder it is much more comfortable than just the webbing which bunches up similar to sports bra straps.
All of our performance sports bras are built with our comfort-focused feature, Alleviate Straps. The Alta Medium Impact Sports bra has slightly narrower 1” straps than the Cirra High Impact Sports Bra with 1 ½” straps. A wider strap helps to distribute weight over a greater distance, making it more comfortable for high impact activities or for those needing higher support.
