How she got into her slalom skating: Leiola got her first boards from her skater uncles, but during the pandemic started skating everyday, going to the skate park for hours. A friend invited her to try slalom in 2023 and was excited about it! That day she met Judi Oyama, legendary slalom skater who encouraged her and became a mentor.

Team Mama Bear - Triathlon Training Group
Felton, California
Goal: Continue to support and encourage moms of all fitness levels, offer training opportunities and a sense of team. The organization is volunteer-led, but have a goal to become an official nonprofit. They would use the funds to educate in support of their mission.
Community: “Swimming, biking and running individually can be prohibitively expensive to participate in, but the additive nature of triathlon, as a sport, further increases the financial burden. Our target participants - moms of school-aged children who need a mental & physical health outlet - are more likely than not, supporting the wellbeing of their children, ahead of themselves. So, investing in gear or training activities is a very real barrier to getting and keeping women in this demographic active, healthy & balanced.”
