WHAT IS EXTENDED SIZING?
And how will it help you find the perfect fitting sports bra...?
We've all been there...the fit is OK, but not quite right in one spot. In sports bras this is often the case. Either the chest fits great, but it doesn’t fit well in the band area or vice versa. To address this issue, we created extended sizing. Extended sizing offers the best of both worlds by allowing you to mix and match the band and chest sizes to fine tune your best fit. We believe that finding the right fit is the most important part of finding the right sports bra. The best materials or construction in the world can’t fix an ill-fitting sports bra.
HOW DO I PICK THE RIGHT SIZE SPORTS BRA FOR ME?
Start with the size you normally wear, but feel free to get a few sizes and return what you don't want to keep.
We have created a detailed size chart, which you can find on each product page (or click here) that will help you find the perfect size for you. We encourage you to start with the size you normally try or currently own in other sports bra brands. Our sports bras are generally true to size so it’s best to start there first. You can even order a couple sizes to see what works best for you and return what doesn’t.
If a medium sports bra fits great in the chest, but the band is too tight, try our Large Band/Medium Chest size. Or maybe you have the opposite problem and need a tighter fit in the chest? If that’s the case try our Medium Band/Small Chest size. We have extended sizing available in both of our styles – the Alta Medium Impact Sports Bra and the Cirra High Impact Sports Bra.
how should my sports bra fit?
A compressive fit = higher support, but chose what feels right to you.
For the best compression and support while exercising, especially for high impact activities, we recommend a secure fit. There should be no gaps or loose areas. The sports bra is meant to support you in all areas. We also recommend an especially snug fit at the band, this is where the foundation of support originates from. Keeping your sports bra secure here helps maintain support throughout activity and movement. Sports bras should feel like a tight hug all over, almost too tight, but not uncomfortably so. :)
Ultimately, sports bra fit is very subjective – what’s right for one person may not be right for the next. Additionally, some activities like running and high intensity interval training are high impact and require a high amount of support, whereas others like hiking and kayaking don't necessarily need the same level of support. Pick what feels right for you and suits your activities and don’t be afraid to try multiple sizes until you find the right one.
